We were on the scene when the first “elves” appeared to assemble this year’s gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian. From the baseboards to the rooftop, we saw these diligent workers putting together one of the biggest gingerbread houses this side of the North Pole. What an incredible (and tasty) lineup the talented culinary teams have put together for us this year.

A visit to the Grand Floridian is a quintessential holiday-time experience, and it’s one of a few must-do stops on our Free Self-Guided Walt Disney World Yuletide Resort Tour. That’s what we recommend doing in the morning before attending Disney Very Merriest After Hours (if you opt to do that upcharge) or perhaps just on your non-parks day. It’s one of our favorite things to do at Walt Disney World, and we make a point of doing it annually–along with separate visits to many of the hotels. While the Gingerbread Ornament is a great option, it’s meant for decor and not a snack. It took 500 hours to bake the gingerbread, 480 hours of decorating, and over three days to construct it. And if you look closely, you’ll find lots of hidden gems, nods to classic Disney, and even hidden Santas. If you want a special treat to take home, the signature gingerbread house is $85.00.
Chocolate Santas, snowmen, and nutcrackers are alongside miniature snow covered trees. The Victorian-style house has gabled roofs, dentils, decorative scrollwork, shutters, and more. Many of the decorations have EARidescent shades of blue and gold. Even the gold ribbon wraps found on the turrets of Cinderella Castle are on the home’s chimney stack. The ship, manned by 10 nautical characters created with color fondant, paid tribute to the legends and lore of historic Amelia Island. When it comes to creating massive, one-of-a-kind houses (and more!) for the holidays, pastry chefs, and even architects pull out all the stops at these U.S. hotels pull out all the stops. Joining this impressive lineup this year is the Lighthouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. This brand-new creation was created by Pastry Chef de Cuisine Michael Craig who used the actual blueprints from the real lighthouse located outside the resort along Crescent Lake. This sweet version is not to be missed on your gingerbread festivities this year.

This is typically the preeminent resort offering during the Christmas season, and for good reason–it’s truly awesome. Here is a short video clip of this year’s gingerbread house. You’ll enter the resort’s second-floor lobby if you arrive at Disney’s Grand Floridian via the monorail. Like any other new construction, a touch of landscaping is added to the final product. Soon after, the Grand Floridian gingerbread house opens to the public.
The gingerbread house display will officially open on November 8, 2023, and will remain open through January 1, 2024. For holiday lovers, stopping by the Grand Floridian during the holiday season is truly a must-do. Guests can also view the unique gingerbread display inside Haunted Mansion Holiday. Haunted Mansion Holiday will be available through January 7, 2024. The TV mounted on the side of the gingerbread house usually plays video about its construction. There are tiny trees staged on tables next to the gingerbread house.
